Staff Attorney (Full-Time)

 

The Staff Attorney will represent clients in civil legal matters with an emphasis in family law. Applicants should have at least one year of experience in family law and victim advocacy.

 

Qualifications: Law degree from an accredited law school and license to practice law in Pennsylvania.  A PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal Background Check, and FBI Criminal Background checks are required.

 

Salary: $67,000.00 per year

Counselor/Advocate: Court  

​

The Counselor Advocate: Court position advocates on behalf of domestic violence victims by working with members of the legal system and law enforcement, helping victims to work through the criminal justice and court systems.

 

Responsibilities include: preparing victims for court procedures, providing them with an understanding of their rights, and accompanying clients for court hearings and other appointments related to the domestic violence situation. Provides advocacy, training, information, and outreach efforts to law enforcement, legal systems, criminal justice, and court agencies and personnel on behalf of victims.

 

Qualifications: HS/GED diploma required with two years of experience in the field of social work or other related field; must have a valid PA driver's license with access to a motor vehicle; A PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal Background Check, and FBI Criminal Background checks are required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Counselor/Advocate: Residential (Mid Shift 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM)

 

The Counselor/Advocate: Residential (mid-shift; bi-lingual encouraged to apply) is responsible for providing safety, counseling, and other related services to Emergency Shelter and Bridge Housing clients; and crisis and supportive counseling services to Hotline victims of domestic violence.

 

Responsibilities include: delivering Shelter and hotline services for Carbon and Luzerne Counties - crisis intervention, intake, supportive options, counseling, safety planning, information and referral, advocacy with other community resources; facilitating regular house meetings and support groups for Shelter guests; ensuring that clients are abiding by house rules; performing regular living area checks; providing counseling on life skills, social relationships and conflict resolution.

Qualifications: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; with experience working with domestic violence, social services or social work is required. A PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal Background Check, and FBI Criminal Background checks are required.

​

Salary: $18.13 an hour
